Students that battle with perusing in school is certainly not another issue. This has been a challenge for educators for quite a long time and keeps on being an issue in educational systems across the country. As expressed in video program five, â€Å"While a child’s improvement might be deferred, the formative example will remain the same.† (Bear, 2004 ). This truly lets school authorities realize that these understudies are reachable, yet the educators need to give proper guidance to the student’s formative level. There are a few things to be viewed as, for example, gathering, sort of guidance, spelling words, and jargon.      Teaching specialized curriculum, it appears that my understudies are normally assembled in the educator/kid proportion. Inside those little gatherings there are an assortment of understanding levels and modifications that must be made. We have perusing bunches regularly in my homeroom. My understudies alongside my partners understudies are gathered by capacity. Indeed, even with that kind of collection remediation for certain understudies is required as a result of their pace of progress. It was expressed in video program five that battling perusers need redundancy, practice, and unequivocal guidance (Bear,2004). I attempt to give this through various modalities. One methodology is a PC program called Intelli-talk.      This is a program like Cowriter or Write Out Loud. It permits data to be inputted into the framework by the educator and it will orally peruse the bearings, any perusing or exercises that go with the exercise. This program additionally permits pictures to be related with crucial jargon in the perusing as a word bank. By tapping on an image the understudies can survey a short meaning of the word and cheerful this will help them in finishing the jargon/understanding exercises. Imperialism Involves The Practice - Free Essay Example

Currently, the United States of America is one of the greatest superpowers in the world, needless to say the USA and strong nations alike worked diligently to gain a dominant identity. The preceding rhetoric around powerful nations such as the USA and China is witnessed beyond ones own perceived superiority (CITE 1). Thus, begging the question, how did such countries rise in power amongst all other competing groups? Peering into history, it is shown that countries gained importance through the dominion of smaller territories, their economy and political state- this is idea is commonly referred to as imperialism. In this paper, I will argue that the effects of imperialism have been more harmful in nature than helpful. I will do this by analyzing a few historically relevant imperialist events and discussing their positive and negative reverberations. As previously stated, imperialism involves the practice of gaining indirect or direct control over a territory through the acquisition of land, or economic and political control. An illustration of imperialism can be seen through the explorer Christopher Columbus. Columbus set out to find more trading ground with Asia, but ended up lost at sea. In 1492, Columbus landed in Hispaniola, now known as Haiti. During his voyage, he spent a great deal of time in Haiti and the Caribbean. He was then directed to the Americas, here he was able to negotiate the treaty of Tordesillas. The treaty of Tordesillas was established between the Spanish and the Portuguese to divide the recently discovered lands during his voyage. Through this treaty the Europeans were able to conquer the New World (North America, South America, and the Caribbean Islands) with tactics such as trading cigars coated with unfamiliar diseases, and the pillage of native resources such as sugarcane, cocoa, corn and potatoes(CIT E 2). Through the lens of imperialism, it can be argued that smaller nations sought to gain from larger nations. An example of this is the introduction of practical advancements such as roads, canals, railways, printing press, schools and new religions. The creation of ports is an illustration of how smaller nations gained from the advancements of larger nations. In particular, global trade helped boost the economies by providing manufactures with a practical way of accessing resources they may need, thereby enhancing production and the sale of such products. In China, tobacco was once perceived as a luxury for the high class. However, after the initiation of open trade between Europe and China, tobacco became much more accessible to all citizens. As a result, tobacco manufactures are able to make more products to sell to the general public (CITE 3). Other positive effects of imperialism through the interaction of more developed nations with less developed nations include improved medical care, better methods of sanitation, and introduction of new farming methods. Subsequently leading to modernization through global interaction and the sharing of cultural and religious practices, resulting in a national identity and the knowledge of the existence of others. Arguably, through imperialism more nations developed an improved their standard of living; less death and and a better quality of life. Contraily, imperialism has had long lasting negative effects. To begin, colonizers typically worked indigenous people for cheap labor with limited freedom. In other words, the dominant nation seeking total political, economic or territorial control forced the less developed nation to listen to their commands at a less than fair price. The less developed native populations were often exploited and taken advantage of. Case in point, the transatlantic slave trade. During this time millions of West Africans we forced into slavery, and shipped to nations such as Brazil and the Caribbeans as goods for trade (CITE 3). Another negative effect derived from imperialism is the forceful introduction to the institution of religion; during the European pillage of Africa, many Africans were forced to adapt Christianity. Further, a vital goal for imperialist powers was to gain territory, many did not take into account the natural borders that were set in place before their arrival. After gaining territory, new boundaries caused cultural, and religious angst between new neighbors. For example, in iraq animosity between Sunni Muslims, Shiite Muslims, and Kurds surfaced after man-made borders were drawn by the british causing ethnic and religious strife that continues to fester. Another example can be seen during the imperialist acquisition of Africa, commanding powers insufficiently prepared their colonies for self-governance resulting in instability that can be seen today. As seen throughout history, imperialism is a key part of modern European history, resulting in the creation of the world today. However, as previously stated, the negative effects are more prevalent and harmful than the positive effects are helpful. Positive effects include the addition to quality of life through enhanced medical practices, better farming methods and increased food production, schools and more. However, it is argued that the positive effects do not negate the negative effects. These negative effects include, the forceful and unfair nature of acquisition by over-working less powerful nations with limited freedom and the continuing animosity between made-made regions through haphazardly drawn borders. Further the assertive manner in which certain regions were taught to believe in another religion that the Europeans deemed as superior. The consequences of the negative impacts are arguably much worse because there still exists a struggle for perceived imperial dominance. Even though the practice of imperialism has drastically changed today, its adaptation to the modern world is still distinguishable. In current media, you see two world leaders making it a point to state that their nuclear button is much larger in size- illustrating their desire for dominion or power over the one other.

Aquinas’ and Dante’s Common Ideals - 1153 Words

Aquinas’ and Dante’s Common Ideals While St. Thomas Aquinas established himself as the New Aristotle of the 13th century, Dante Alighieri established himself the new Virgil. The two men made an immense impact in their respective fields (poetry and philosophy). Yet surprisingly, the two share common ideals. In each of their respective literary and philosophical views, they establish the importance of the relationship between nature and grace. In Dante’s Inferno the unique relationship of grace and nature is made apparent and reflects the writings of Aquinas’ â€Å"Summa Theologica†. Dante’s pilgrimage through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise exhibit and reflect St. Thomas’ understanding of the relationship of nature and grace. Dante†¦show more content†¦Dante’s Inferno begins in a dark forest, a place of confusion, because he lost his way on the â€Å"true path†. Seeking an escape, Dante finds a hill where the sun glares down on him. This light seen in Dan te’s Inferno symbolizes clarity as the sun represents God. After encountering three beasts and turning back to the murky forest, Dante crosses paths with the great Roman Poet, Virgil. Virgil is an aid and guide to Dante to Heaven, the ultimate Paradise. He warns Dante he must pass through Hell and Purgatory in order to reach his salvation in heaven. Virgil is depicted as nature or human reason perfected by virtue. It is strongly emphasized that Virgil can only take Dante so far in his journey by guiding him to heaven. Much like St. Thomas Aquinas’ reasoning, nature or human reason can only bring you so far in the journey to God. As Virgil and Dante approach the mouth of Hell, Virgil preaches to Dante about a woman in Heaven who took pity upon Dante when he was lost in hell. The woman Virgil speaks of is Dante’s departed love Beatrice. After Dante hears that Beatrice is heaven he now sheds the fear of traveling through Hell and Purgatorio. â€Å"But Virgil rebukes his cowardice, and relates the chain of events that led him to come to Dante. The Virgin Mary took pity on the Pilgrim in his despair and instructed Saint Lucia to aid him. The foundation of Dante’s philosophy is said to be founded from the teachings of St. Aquinas and St. Augustine because Dante’s idea of a universal ruler is based from St. Aquinas’ idea â€Å"that the church exercises its authority over kings and princes† and St. Augustine’s idea that â€Å"the church approximates and mystically reflects the city of God in the afterlife†. Although Dante always referred to Aristotle as the greatest philosopher and used his ideas quite often, Dante’s beliefs deviate from

The Cause and Effects of Sterotyping Essay - 1293 Words

Stereotyping, which can be used positively and negatively, is something everyone uses every day; it is found in our humor, how people describe one another, and beliefs. People stereotype without knowing it; it is a way we use to help us understand a group. The problem with stereotyping is that it’s a self –opinion about a group, not an individual. Everyone has their own unique and distinct personalities, just as everyone has their own fingerprints so it is unfair to be judged quickly by people who do not know others as an individual. Teenagers are constantly stereotyped by adults. Trends in Global Environment for Business Ethics-myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about theTrends in Global Environment for Business Ethics. Answer: Summary of the article The article reflects the relation between algorithm and the managers. Rather, it can be said the article projects the techniques applied by the managers for using the algorithms. The adverb too enlists the managers in the list along with the managers in terms of carrying out algorithmic calculations (Luca, Kleinberg and Mullainathan 2016). The article starts with the functionalities of the managers, involving predictions. However, the usual connotations of the managerial functions relates to the regulating the performance of the staffs. Countering this, predictions are needed in terms of estimating the achievement of success and the time when the goals and the objectives would be achieved. As a matter of specification, the article assumes that algorithms make the predictions accurate. However, lack of understanding towards the operations of the algorithms aggravates the risks. Herein lays the appropriateness of the example, which the article refers for enlivening the importance of algorithms in the workplace activities (Luca, Kleinberg and Mullainathan, 2016). Algorithms in the social media gain an important position in the article. Typical examples of this are pay per click advertising, which increases the trafficking of the audience towards the brand image. Prevalence of the issues reflects the alarming tone of the article in terms of identifying new data sources. The article also provides an insight into the vision of the managers, which needs to be explicit for the achievement of goals and objectives. Setting short term goals is productive in terms of achieving long term benefits. Narrowing the search is a wise step towards reaching to the targeted goals and objectives. Here, weakness is the stepping stones for the managers in terms of upgrading the standards and quality of the business (Luca, Kleinberg and Mullainathan, 2016). Key questions From the assumptions of the article, the following questions can be developed: Why the smart algorithms are unsmart? Which is the appropriate status of the managers towards achievement of the goals? What are the attributes, which the managers need to bear in mind while preparing the vision statement? How can the limitations be used for approaching the big data? Literature review Question 1: Why the smart algorithms are unsmart? Glaeser, E.L., Hillis, A., Kominers, S.D. and Luca, M., 2016. Crowdsourcing city government: Using tournaments to improve inspection accuracy.American Economic Review,106(5), pp.114-18 Personification of the algorithms enables the personnel to achieve an easy grasp over the operations and functions. This is specifically applicable in the process of automated call functions. Common perceptions about algorithm are misleading, as they are equated with that of an employee, colleague or supervisor. However, the difference between humans and algorithms lies in literal extremity an ombre shade. Literal extremity relates with the obedience, which the robots need to expose towards the levied instructions (Glaeser et al. 2016). Here every other consideration is ignored. Herein, the external environment attains a negative connotation. Consideration of the big data helps in catering to the targets of the big cities. Typical example of this is the hygiene inspection. Herein lays the role of the government, where there is a dearth of talents regarding making predictions through algorithms. The article proposes the solution of hiring consultants, who would prepare the statistical data. However, the better option is to use crowd source competence through the means of publicizing the data. Rewards are effective in terms of luring the consultants towards the act of crowd sourcing. This would establish accurate statistical data (Glaeser et al. 2016). Key question 2: Which is the appropriate approach of the managers towards achievement of the goals? Lee, T.W. and Steers, R.M., 2017. Facilitating effective performance appraisals: The role of employee commitment and organizational climate. InPerformance measurement and theory(pp. 75-93). Routledge. The paper sheds light on the performance appraisals, which indicates the approach of the staffs towards the business activities. The managers need to be explicit in terms of setting the goals. Objectives and directives are the common features in terms of fulfilling the identified and the specified targets. However, the end does not always seem satisfactory. However, the managers need to set short-term goals for improving the focus (Lee and Steers 2017). Taking into consideration algorithms would help the managers to remain focused on the identified and the specified objectives. With algorithms, the managers can easily measure the targeted goals. This also helps in measuring the accuracy of the results and their analysis. Herein lays the collaboration with the aspect of organizational climate. Commitment relates to the approach of the employees regarding the use of algorithm for doing the calculation. Key question 3: What are the attributes, which the managers need to bear in mind while preparing the vision statement. Alt, E., Dez-de-Castro, E.P. and Llorns-Montes, F.J., 2015. Linking employee stakeholders to environmental performance: the role of proactive environmental strategies and shared vision.Journal of Business Ethics,128(1), pp.167-181. Narrowing down the search is the most innovative technique for achieving the goals and objectives. Considering the demand supply curve, for doing the algorithmic calculations, leads to the betterment of the organization. This calculation helps in forecasting the profit margin and revenue. The employees in the organization hail from different backgrounds; however, they are instructed to share a common vision, which is, taking the company or organization to the peak of success (Alt et al. 2015). Strategies act assistance for the personnel in terms of systematizing the business activities. Inclusion of adopting latest and modern algorithm software, within the strategies, is a wise step of the personnel. This is in terms of enhancing the employee performance. Involvement of the employees in preparing the strategies makes them proactive, as they are the ones who would be using the algorithms for calculating the profit. Wideness of the data can make the personnel confused. Therefore, narrowing the search to specific needs is a wise step towards the achievement of positive results. Innovation in this sense would mean usage of search engine optimization for searching the ways to increase the sales revenue (Alt et al. 2015). However, some of the business critics are of the view that algorithms are myopic. This is because of the short term impacts, which compels the personnel to suffer from losses. Here, the identified strategies achieve a negative connotation. Moreover, the staffs rely on the data at hand, which limits their performance within a certain limit. This limitation is an obstacle into their professional development. Therefore, training is needed in terms of making the employees aware of the importance of envisioning long term success (Alt et al. 2015). Key question 4: How can the limitations be used for approaching the big data? Cukier, K. and Mayer-Schoenberger, V., 2013. The rise of big data: How it's changing the way we think about the world.Foreign Aff.,92, p.28. Internet has narrowed down the worldly matters for the people. As a matter of specification, internet has altered the lifestyle of the people. One of the important components of internet is big data, which has digitalized communication. This digitalization has eased the process of data collection. As a matter of specification, there is a set of data, which resulted in the creation of something, which is a wonder for the human thought process. The major drive behind this is the selection of data and the approaches behind it (Cukier and Mayer 2013). Wide-ranging data is better, as it helps in exploring the unexplored facts. Most of the companies tend to think big when it comes to targeting the customers. However, when it comes to data entry for the expenditure, there are arrears, resulting in wrong predictions. With the advancement of science, the managers are provided with readymade solutions for modification of the wrongly input data. Typical example of this is the latest version of excel, where, clues can be inserted for remembering the features to be entered into the cell (Cukier and Mayer 2013). The nature of data is diverse, which adds to the complexities of the personnel. In this context, reaching to the appropriate data is a distant hope. Difference in the data compels the staffs to suffer from stress, as they lead to wrong predictions and results. Similarity in the data sets does not add to the profit. Uniqueness in the data sets, adds value. Here, the approach of the personnel is important. The psychologists recommend perceiving the data to be a gift from the friends. Countering this, not all of the staffs possess the same mentality. Some needs to be explained hundred times, after which they emerge successful in calculating the cause and the effect (Cukier and Mayer 2013). Some others are so intelligent, that they grasp the concepts at one explanation. The managers need to provide enough motivation, so that the staffs get equal treatment in terms of gaining understanding of the algorithmic calculations. This is because of the teamwork, which is needed for producing the data and reports. References Alt, E., Dez-de-Castro, E.P. and Llorns-Montes, F.J., 2015.
